This 200 year old estate is characterized by very steep vineyards with very sparse soils and lots of grey slate. Everything is done by hand here by the Wohlmuth family.
Domaine Salvard Sauvignon Blanc “Unique” 2022 - $18.00 The clay, sand, and limestone soils of Cheverny account for the vivid textures and length of this unbelievable value. Citrus pith, savory herbs, and gooseberries populate the wine’s forward aromas. A stylish way to handle the rising cost (and scarcity) of Sancerre!
Domaine Alain Chavy Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020 - $28.00 The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from younger vines in Puligny, and the wine is raised in a combo of 228L and 400L barrels, mostly used. A respectable amount of dry extract, expressive minerality, and crisp acid characterize this lovely Bourgogne.

Bonny Doon Vineyard Le Cigare Orange Central Coast 2022 - $17.00 Randall Grahm’s signature irreverence may adorn the label here, but the winemaking, as ever, is immaculate. The cleanest, most drinkable “orange” wine you’ll find. Made from Grenache Blanc, Grenache, and Muscat grapes.
Forge Cellars Seneca Lake Arlo Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2021 - $29.00 Forge Cellars is the collaborative enterprise of Richard Rainey (formerly of Winebow) and Louis Barruol, who makes spectacularly delicious Rhone wines (see below!). This spontaneously fermented Cab Franc from the east side of Seneca Lake is dark, nervy, and vibrant. Only 316 cases made!
Chateau de Rouanne Vinsobres 2019 - $29.00 Louis Barruol, owner of Chateau de Saint Cosme in Gigondas, acquired Chateau de Rouanne after sourcing grapes from this estate for years. A blend of Grenache (50%), Syrah (40%), and Mourvedre (10%), this exudes classic southern Rhone aromas of dark berried fruit and garrigue, with crunchy acid delineating the whole thing and a vibrant, lengthy finish.
